Pinterest

Ever heard of Pinterest? What am I thinking...you'd having to be hiding behind a rock to have escaped the snatches of pinterest, or atleast its hold on someone you know.
For a couple of weeks, if you were any where near me, you probably heard all about pinterest and the great ideas I'm finding. I'm not great at coming up with the creative ideas, but I can duplicate things with the best of 'em :)
I thought I'd show you all the fun things I've been doing-wanna see?!
I made these a couple of weeks ago for a shower a friend was throwing for her sister. This is a cupcake made of a receiving blanket and onesie, which worked great as the showers theme was All about Cupcakes.
We sent some "Hugs" to some people who really needed them:)
And these turned out to be a hit at our girls weekend. Below is the picture we found off of pinterest and above are all the scarves me made that weekend.
I love Uppercase living stuff. I have several knockoffs around the house but I've known for a while that I wanted to put our last name on glass for the fireplace. I found the above pic on pinterest as my inspiration and then a friend and I went to work.
I think it turned out really well!
Made these a couple of weeks ago. YUM! They were delicious!
My mom makes the BEST popcorn ever. I've tried numerous times to replicate it, but its just never the same. Until I saw this idea on pinterest. Use a brown paper lunch bag in the microwave. I've converted the hubby over from that nasty store bought microwave stuff and we'll never go back. Its not quite the same as Moms, but its sure a close second when I don't have the luxury of just popping (haha) by for some popcorn with my parents!:)
I saw this on pinterest and loved it. Wasn't sure where I was going to put it, but I had just gone through all of my books and had a bunch on the give away pile. The timing was right. But the length of time to make it was not. Holy cow this was a lot of work, and a ton of hot glue gun burns! But I love how it turned out and it now graces my friends house where it fits perfectly:) and made a great birthday present! (above picture is not the actual wreath I made as I forgot to take any pictures while the actual wreath resided in my house..bummer)
This has turned out to be one of the best pinterest finds for our family. We made these on our girls weekend too and the boys LOVE them. They never forget to pick a stick before we pray and I love that it is getting them outside of themselves and their own needs and into the lives of others.
I collect Nativities. I love all the different variations and when I saw this, I immediately thought of how fun it would be to do with the boys. So we got together with some friends and all made them together. The boys loved it and I love having 2 very special nativities to take out each year.
I saw this and knew I wanted to give it a try. Thanks to my adventurous friend, we whipped 'em up in a matter of minutes. Now I just gotta find the correct way to wear it:)
And this final project was so much fun, I did it twice...within a months span. And, let me tell you, its pretty intensive, but I love the final product.
And until I did this project, it didn't occur to me that I was so patriotic. My house is mainly red, white and blue. Yes, different shades and that even the downstairs is in red, white and blue. Huh. After living with it for how many years, that is just now occurring to me?!? Well, atleast we don't feel like singing the national anthem every time we sit down and relax:)
Yea, after hours of work, her wreath is complete!
My finished project, take 1
And getting ready to finish off take 2. In my defence, I did change it up a bit and made the flowers look different!
And i had to post this because it makes me laugh. A friend was hanging out and making her own wreath with me, and after nap time, N got up sat down and proceeded to join us in our conversation.
Someone needs to alert this child that he is only 5. And that he should play with other kids. Thats normal. Its not normal to skip over the children to seek out the adults in any situation and have an in depth conversation with them!!
Hope you've enjoyed my pinterest ride and I'm sure I'll keep finding and making ideas, but I love how its inspiring my creativity!

Boys, boys and more boys!! I'm surrounded!

N-is in full on Lego's. He scours books now to find ideas of things to build. I love that kind of creativity!
I just signed him up for Kindergarten! YIPES! Didn't he just start talking and here we are going into kindergarten. Sigh. I've heard its all down hill from here:)
We signed him up (although we have the opportunity to back out) for the bus. Is he really old enough to ride the bus to school each day. Too bad he won't let me hold his hand on the way to school for the next 15 years. Guess I gotta let go at some point.
B-he has hit such a funny stage. He loves to say "Yeah, Baby!" whenever he gets excited, he's convinced he's 5 just like N, he does not like to be kissed and tells me "Pwease don't do dat" whenever I try.
And he has figured a way around the system when it comes to making his bed in the morning-Make it the night before. That's right. Every night we go in to check on him and find him with his bed completely made, sleeping on top of the covers. And every night we put him back under the covers only to find him back on top of the covers when we go to get him in the morning. He's even started doing it for naptime too.
Why waste precious playtime when you can just make your bed the night before or at the beginning of naptime!
I looked out of the kitchen the other night to find the boys pouring over books together. Love that even though there is a lot of fighting right now, they still love hanging out together.
One of B's latest favorites is to ride around the house on my foot. Who knew I could get a work out, spend time with B and accomplish things around the house all at the same time?!?!

Girls weekend

About 2 years ago, I started thinking about how nice it would be to get away for a weekend. To relax, get some girl time and a refresher for motherhood. Don't get me wrong, I love my kids, but I also know that absence makes the heart grow fonder.:)
All the women in my small group whole heartedly agreed to the need for some quiet and relaxation but the only downfall in my plan was the location. It seemed that to get away could cost a small fortune and then last summer, a friend told me about a State Park nearby that rented out cabins for cheap. So the plans were set.
We started the weekend off by making prayer pails. The boys have latched onto this since I've been home and its a great way to start conversations and get our prayers away from ourselves and onto others.
I love this picture because its a great representation of the weekend. Lots of time was spent around this table but with it came tons of laughter and fun too.
For being 8 hours into the project, I still seem to be enjoying it, don't I?
The flower scarf. Beautiful, but man its a lot of work. We worked on the scarf for 9 hours!!
The crew...and we're definitely doing this again next year!
