Fun with Lolli & Poppi!

Look how big my hands got. But don't worry...they aren't really this big.

I love being tall! I'm almost to the top of this door.

Welcome to Indiana, Lolli & Poppi!

Tradition lived on...Noah was up to greet Lolli and Poppi when they arrived after his bedtime.

I really love this picture.

Noah's showing off more of his new tricks:)

Its all in the family...the three distinct Hawaiians of our family.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

The three WISE men...haha (note the actual wisemen Noah is holding. He loves playing with them and refused to put them down for the picture.)

Family...this picture is a far cry from our family picture last Christmas. Its amazing how much can change.

One evening, my 2 boys hung out in just their t-shirts and jeans....what a cute picture!

Christmas

We had a great relaxing Christmas. (Although I must admit that for a few minutes when I first woke up, I was stressing trying to figure out how the schedule of the day would work with Noah's schedule...silly I know, but I wanted it to be a good day.) Thankfully, I have a wonderful husband who reminded me what was most important and helped me get the schedule together.:)
Below are some pictures of our wonderful day...

Look, Noah! Its a boat!

Oh, look Mommy! Look at all the animals!

He was such a ham this weekend. Several times throughout Lolli & Poppi's stay, he would burst out in laughter and just keep laughing.

Mommy is my best friend.

This is so much fun...got anything else I can help open?

The food was great, the company even better. The only thing missing was you Auntie Marlene and Uncle Mike!!!

Merry Christmas!

"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6

"She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins." Matthew 1:21

May you be reminded this Christmas of God's extrodinary love for you. So great was His love, that he sent his only Son to bridge the gap between our sins and our Heavenly Father. May God bless your Christmas and fill your heart with a love that only He can give.

Merry Christmas to everyone!

Aaron, Emily & Noah

Busy little boy...

I am really feeling that I'm not as creative at this as I used to be, but it is much harder to get Noah into fun poses. He has decided he doesn't really enjoy the paparazzi he has at the house and so he has decided to avoid the cameras as much as possible. Here are a few that I have captured recently.

Me and My Basketball...

Daddy says I'm going to play ball one day. And look, I'm already practicing my dribbling skills. (Although I don't understand why they are just now thinking they can show me how...I've been dribbling forever!)

This is what I would look like with a basketball for a head...what do you think?

But, Mommy...I'm not throwing the ball, I'm practicing my shooting.

I wonder how this would taste?

I love his little chubby cheeks...

I seem to get a lot of pictures now with him like this:) He keeps practicing his Elvis imitation.

Noah told me that he wanted to send his own message this time. So allow me to translate.

"Hi, everybody! I love and miss you! Hope you have a Merry Christmas. Make sure you get some dessert..thats the best part of the meal. Happy Birthday Baby Jesus."

Playing...

Noah has really gotten in this phase of enjoying his toys. Its the first place he goes to when he wakes up and loves to play all day! He is fascinated with the elliptical machine and one day while Daddy was running, Noah was down there with him. He kept taking breaks from playing to watch Daddy and look longingly at the elliptical machine.

He's getting pretty good at driving his cars around.

After lunch one day this week, I decided to finish off the rest of the frosting from Noah's birthday cake on some graham crackers. Noah, of course wanting what ever Mommy has, wanted some too. This was the result. (I think you can't truely enjoy chocolate frosting until it gets all over the face:))

Is this a good scary face, Momma?

Birthday Questionnaire

Aaron's cousin Sarah had this really great idea so I decided to borrow it (Thanks, Sarah!!) I thought this would be a great way for Noah to look back on his first year of life. Its kind of long, but fun to see how people remember Noah. If you are interested in filling out the questionnaire, copy the blank questions from the comments section of this and add it back into your own comment. From Daddy: 1. My name is Noah, but you like to call me: Bubba, Little man, Junior, NoahJames 2. What day of the week was I born? Monday, December 4th, 2006 @ 2:52. You weighed 8 lbs. 12 oz. and you were 21 inches. 3. What is your favorite memory of me? When he was sitting at the kitchen table in Mommy’s arms. I came through the door after work and it was the first time you really recognized me a gave me a great big smile. 4. If my life had a soundtrack, the theme song for my first year would be: Danger Zone 5. In 20 years, I will turn 21. What do you think I will be doing? I see you being a courteous and respectful young man growing in your walk with God and pursuing your dreams while working hard to achieve them. 6. The silliest thing I do is: I have a couple…when you talk back to me in the car when I make noises at you, the ohohoh sound you make when you see something you really like, and clenching your whole body when you get really excited. 7. What is your favorite picture of Noah? I have a couple…when I first held you and showed you to your mother, the one where you are wearing my glasses, and helping me install the childproof latches. 8. What one word best describes me? Curious 9. If I were a superhero, who would I be? A cross between Daredevil and Wolverine because you have no fear and you need the gift of healing because you bonk your head all the time 10. What do you love best about me? That God gave you to your Mommy and I. I also love that you try to figure things out and concentrate very hard while doing it just like me. From Mommy: 1. My name is Noah, but you like to call me: Lovebug, Baby boy, Sweetheart, Babe, NoahJames, 2. What day of the week was I born? Monday. In 20 years, I will turn 21. What do you think I will be doing? I hope and pray that you will be a man after God’s heart. That you will be an example to those around you of what a believer is with a servants heart. I would love for you to appreciate women and still open doors for them. My little 1 year old...

So often these days, as Noah and I are out and about, I am told that I must have a little boy who enjoys his squash and carrots. I suppose he has a unique coloring, but he definitely is avoiding all fruits and veggies at this point, so his color can't be attibuted to vegetables. Atleast ones he has to eat himself and since he has a very well rounded diet, no one veggie is eaten more than the next. He is just very, very tan:) Lucky boy!!! This picture above really highlights his tan...it almost looks like a black and white picture except for Noah's face:)

I love my daddy because he always makes time for me. Even when he's tired after working a lot, he comes home and wants to play.

I have put a Noah-friendly nativity scene at his level for him to play with. I often find him here playing with the people, especially baby Jesus. Maybe he knows Jesus is really special. Although I'm not really sure what Jesus would think of Noah carrying him in his mouth, which he does as he crawls around the house.
We were walking around the other day looking at Mommy's many nativities and I began explaining about the people and the story behind them. As I narrarated, we also looked at the animals included in most of the nativities. I would make the noise for that animal and pretty soon, he began to mimick me. So, now when we talk about it, he can make the noise for the cow and the donkey:)

This is often how I find Noah after his nap. Socks strewn about, netting pulled into the crib, blankets everywhere...Apparently, he has a little too much time to find mischief:)

We had our first real snow! Okay, so I'm a day late in getting the real 'snow' picture, but I thought this would still count. Notice the blue Colorado sky! Makes me miss the mountains with that bright blue sky behind them.

Noah is reading Daddy his favorite book.

Noah is showing us that it doesn't take a lot to entertain him:) Even a simple popcan box will do...he pushes it around the floor making his car noise.

Noah is so much fun....I love his little laugh. He is always finding new ways to entertain himself:)

Noah loves his Daddy, in fact, that was his first word...da da. It doesn't matter that he uses it for everything right now, he definitely knows to use it whenever Daddy is around.

We gave him these cars for his birthday and he loves them. He has been 'driving' them everywhere and I guess we must make the car noise enough, because he knew right away that when you drive the cars around, you have to make the noise too.

Your personality and curiosity keep us on our toes all day every day but we wouldn't have it any other way.

Noah's first birthday party!!!

What a day! We had such a good day, but such a busy day!!! We started off the day early to ensure Noah would get both of his naps in before the party. Soon, several friends came over to help set things up and get the food ready. Part way through the day, all of us girls left to go to a baby shower and then came back to finish up the food and decorations and await the guests.
I think Noah knew something was going on because he couldn't sleep very long. He was really ready to get the party started.
The party was from 3:30 to 5:30 and the time just flew! I remember one moment, when we were singing Happy Birthday to Noah, when I looked out into the faces of everyone there and I remember thinking 'This is exactly what I wanted!'. I wanted a day when we could get all of our friends together and celebrate the "family" that God is granted us in this time of our lives. We are so blessed!
Noah was such a little social butterfly. He was crawling from person to person and several times got interrupted by when someone picked him up.
He ended up crashing. He did so good...no melt downs at all, but you could tell he was ready for bed when 8:00 finally came.
Noah walked the whole circle clinging to Ava's back. She is the only girl (and we can't figure out why) he kisses without us prompting him too. And not just kissing, but wide open mouth kisses. WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?!?!?

My 2 plaid men...

We had a jungle themed party

And lots of yummy food

The cake was really yummy, although I still need someone to tell me why you would put flowers on a little boy's birthday cake!??!

Noah's leaning tower of chocolate:)

My silly friend Shelley. (sorry, Shelley, but I had to add this since it totally cracked me up!!)

Eve, Bill, Emily, Kaelyn and Ava.

VIEWS OF THE PARTY

THE BIRTHDAY CAKE
He also really enjoyed his cake. He wasn't sure what to make of it at first, but after sticking a TINY drop he got on his finger into his mouth, he came rushing back for more. Aaron helped him dig into the cake to show him there was something beneath the frosting. And thats when he went crazy! The 2 layers on the cake were probably close to an inch high each and he ate almost the whole top layer and would have kept going had Aaron not stopped him:) He was a MESS! But it was so cute. His little cheeks look even bigger with all that chocolate frosting on them:) Aaron finally took the cake away in the hopes that it would prevent a chocolate disaster later that night:)

Why is everybody looking at me and singing?

You really want me to do what?!?

Okay, this isn't bad...

Okay, okay, so its better than okay...this is GREAT!

Could you hold that shot for just a minute longer, I need somewhere to rub my hands...maybe Daddy's shirt?

UMMMMM...

Oh, Chocolate, yummy, yummy chocolate, why have I just now met you, my dear sweet Chocolate...(add your own music here...)

I think the sugar is starting to kick in (atleast that's what everyone was saying...)

What's left of the cakes:)

There were lots of kids for Noah to play with

Opening presents

I don't get it Daddy...why do we have to hide the presents under paper first?

Towards the end, Noah got really bored and gave up...I finished unwrapping the rest of the presents with all the other kids who had come. PURE CHAOS!!

What a little LOVEBUG! Giving Daddy a hug.

Playing with his toys...

The boys were standing at the gate with Noah...he loves having buddies to hang out with:)
